GeoClip Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what GeoClip collects and how we use it. An account is required to host, join, or play. Free accounts support daily, solo, and standard multiplayer play; Pro unlocks the paid features shown in the app. We collect only what is needed to operate the game, maintain accounts, and provide paid features.

Account information includes your email, optional username, bio and avatar, marketing-email choice and its change history, plan, and account dates. For Pro, we store Stripe customer and subscription references, status, billing-period end, and cancellation preference—not full card numbers or security codes. We use lobby codes, player IDs, display names, session cookies, and local session details. Gameplay data includes rounds, guesses and submitted coordinates, scores, participation, chat, reactions, and results. We may retain stats, daily results, streaks, and country or continent totals. Product events can include starts, completions, shares, invites, upgrade and checkout actions, and playback failures, linked to an account or random browser-session ID. These events are not fully anonymous, but exclude exact guesses, coordinates, payment details, invite links, and player names. Error monitoring can receive technical data and an internal account ID, not your email or username. We also send operational account email; marketing email is sent only after opt-in.

GeoClip uses cookies and browser storage for authentication, lobby membership, and gameplay. This can include session data, temporary player cookies, lobby player IDs and names, local secrets, played-location caches, host preferences, and a first-party analytics session ID. Some data is cleared when you leave a lobby, return home, or create a new lobby. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser.

We do not sell or rent personal information. Information needed to show names, guesses, scores, chat, reactions, and results is shared with players in your lobby. Limited information is shared with service providers that operate hosting, authentication, multiplayer, video delivery, payments, email, error monitoring, maps, fonts, and related content delivery.

Account and profile data is retained while your account exists unless you delete it. Subscription records are retained to provide service, meet legal and tax duties, and resolve disputes. Gameplay data is kept as needed for games, security, account features, and stats. Product analytics events are deleted after at most 90 days. While signed in, you can export your data or permanently delete your account in Profile settings; deletion also cancels an active Pro subscription. Security, legal, analytics, gameplay, and billing records may remain where required, including records Stripe keeps under its policies. Contact geoclipfun@gmail.com for help.

We use Supabase for authentication, database, and realtime; Vercel for hosting and platform analytics or performance tools where enabled; Amazon S3 and CloudFront for gameplay-video storage and delivery; Stripe for payments and subscriptions; Resend for account email; Sentry for error monitoring; CARTO and OpenStreetMap for map imagery; Google Fonts on certain pages; and Cloudflare cdnjs for map-marker images. Providers may process limited technical information such as IP address, device, or browser details as needed. Gameplay video is delivered through Amazon Web Services, not Supabase Storage.

Stripe processes Pro payments under its privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy. Stripe may collect card details, billing address, and receipt email. GeoClip does not store full card numbers or security codes. We store Stripe customer and subscription IDs, subscription status, billing-period end, and cancellation-at-period-end choice to provide Pro, process recurring payments, communicate about subscriptions, handle cancellation and renewal, and meet legal or tax obligations. GeoClip and Stripe may retain required tax, accounting, or legal records after cancellation or deletion.

GeoClip is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13 to create an account or use GeoClip. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email geoclipfun@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete it.

You can update account information in Profile settings; opt into or out of marketing email at signup or in Profile settings; download your profile and marketing preferences while signed in; permanently delete your account while signed in; and clear cookies or site storage in your browser. We retain records of marketing choices. Email geoclipfun@gmail.com for deletion help or other privacy requests.

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will update the Last updated date on this page. Continuing to use GeoClip after an update means you accept the revised policy.
