1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information GeoClip collects and how we use it. GeoClip requires an account to host, join, or play. Free accounts can play daily and solo challenges, join games, and host standard multiplayer lobbies. Pro subscriptions unlock unlimited hosting, custom host settings, profile stats, discoveries, daily archives, and streak protection. We keep data collection to the minimum necessary to operate the game, maintain accounts, and provide paid features.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, profile information you choose to provide, marketing email preference, account tier, and basic account timestamps. This data is used to maintain your account, sign you in, and provide account-related features.
- Subscription information: If you subscribe to the Pro Plan, we store your Stripe customer ID, Stripe subscription ID, subscription status, billing period end date, and cancellation preference. This information is used to manage your subscription and provide Pro Plan features.
- Session and lobby identifiers: We use lobby codes, player IDs, player names, player session cookies, and locally stored player session details to connect signed-in players to multiplayer games and prevent session misuse.
- Gameplay data: We collect data needed to run games, including round activity, guesses, coordinates submitted by players, scores, lobby participation, chat messages, and game results.
- Stats and progress data: We may store gameplay history needed for profile stats, Daily Clip Challenge results, streaks, solo and multiplayer stats, and location discoveries.
- Diagnostics and analytics: Aggregated, anonymized usage and technical data, such as page views, performance signals, and feature interaction events like game starts, completions, result shares, invite actions, upgrade clicks, and checkout starts. These analytics events do not include exact guesses, coordinates, payment details, invite URLs, or player names.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
GeoClip uses browser storage and cookies to keep you signed in, connect you to lobbies, and improve gameplay. This includes Supabase authentication session storage, temporary GeoClip player session cookies, lobby-scoped player IDs and names, local player secrets, used location caches, and host settings such as used locations or last selected continent.
Some entries are cleared by app flows such as leaving a lobby, returning home, or creating a new lobby. You may also clear browser local storage, session storage, and cookies through your browser settings.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell or rent your data. Gameplay information is shared with other players in your lobby as needed to show names, guesses, scores, chat, reactions, and results. We also share limited data with our service providers, including Supabase, Vercel, and Stripe, to operate the game, analytics, hosting, authentication, realtime multiplayer features, and payments.
5. Data Retention
Account and profile information is retained while your account exists, unless you request deletion. Subscription records are retained as needed to provide services, comply with legal and tax obligations, and resolve disputes.
Lobby, round, guess, and result data is retained as needed to operate games, maintain security, support account features, and provide stats. Temporary browser data may remain on your device until cleared by the app or your browser settings.
Raw funnel analytics events are retained for up to 90 days before deletion or aggregation.

6. Third-Party Services
We rely on Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and real-time multiplayer features; Vercel for hosting, analytics, and performance insights; and Stripe for payment processing and subscription management. These providers may process limited technical information, such as IP addresses and device/browser data, to provide their services. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.
7. Payment Information
If you subscribe to the Pro Plan, buyers pay GeoClip directly for the subscription, and payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc., our third-party payment processor. Stripe's Privacy Policy is available at https://stripe.com/privacy.
7.1 Payment Data Collected by Stripe
When you subscribe to the Pro Plan, Stripe collects and processes the following information on our behalf:
- Payment card information, such as card number, expiration date, and security code
- Billing address
- Email address (used for receipts and subscription notifications)
Important: GeoClip does not store your complete payment card number or security code on our servers. Sensitive payment data is encrypted and stored securely by Stripe in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.
7.2 Subscription Data Stored by GeoClip
To manage your subscription and provide Pro Plan features, we store the following information in our database:
- Stripe customer ID (a unique identifier linking your account to your Stripe customer record)
- Stripe subscription ID (a unique identifier for your subscription)
- Subscription status (e.g., active, canceled, past due)
- Current billing period end date
- Cancellation preferences (whether your subscription is set to cancel at period end)
7.3 How We Use Payment Information
We use subscription information to:
- Provide and manage access to Pro Plan features
- Process recurring subscription payments through Stripe
- Communicate with you about your subscription status
- Handle subscription cancellations and renewals
- Comply with legal and tax obligations
7.4 Retention of Payment Data
We retain subscription information for as long as necessary to provide services, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. If you cancel your subscription or delete your account, we will retain necessary records as required by law for tax and financial reporting purposes.
8. Children's Privacy
GeoClip is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, use GeoClip only with parental consent and supervision.
9. Your Choices and Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access and correction: You may update your account information at any time through your profile settings.
- Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data by contacting us at geoclipfun@gmail.com.
- Local storage: You may clear browser local storage at any time via your browser settings to remove temporary session data.
